The Astrology Company: November 2024 by Bob MulliganNovember 2024By Bob Mulligan(a personal note is at the end of the newsletter)November HighlightsMercury enters Sagittarius on the 2nd (sign ruled by Jupiter) and will stay there until early 2025. Jupiter is in Gemini (sign ruled by Mercury) and will be there till June of 2025. This Mutual Reception between the messenger and the message will give us many interesting cross currents between information (Mercury) and values (Jupiter). Some version of the big picture, real or make believe, will capture everyone’s imagination. We have roadmaps, but they aren’t for the roads we are currently on. This can be ok if we aren’t using these maps for immediate navigation. However, this transit of Mercury in Sagittarius gives us a vision into how the world could be or should be. This Mercury Jupiter pairing provides terrific tools to plan our future. Mars Opposes Pluto then enters Leo on the 3rd. With an explosion of energy, we move forward. Violence and the threats of violence shadow us wherever we go. Next year, this Opposition occurs twice more, but this is the motherload. Each of us can reduce the collective insanity by recognizing and dealing with our own internal contradictions. Venus enters Capricorn on the 11th. We may feel like bringing a gift to our loved one, but all that is really needed at this time is commitment and reliability. Saturn turns Direct on the 15th just seven hours before the Full Moon. The Lord of Karma is stepping out of the shadows and will play a major role in manifesting dreams. Ideals will walk on new pathways. This journey is fruitful because earlier we were denied what we wished for. At this time, Saturn manifests something good by teaching us important lessons. Sometimes our desires hurt us and a change in direction is necessary. Pluto enters Aquarius on the 19th and will be there until March 8th, 2043. This will be a 20 year period of amazing changes in how groups are formed, and how we work together. Freedom and the rights of individual expression are enshrined. Immediately, there is a subtle shift in how we relate to each other. Mercury turns Retrograde on the 25th until December 15th, giving us three weeks to recognize and correct past mistakes. Sifting through endless details for truly important facts can seem tedious, but engaging like-minded souls can lift our spirits and make our endeavors joyful. The New MoonThe New Moon is on the 1st at 8:47 AM EDT on 9 degrees Scorpio 35 minutes. There are six planets in water signs, showing that this will be a very emotional month. Mercury in Scorpio forms a Grand Water Trine with Mars in Cancer and Neptune in Pisces. For some, this will pull us deeper into research and meditation, but all will be overcome with an urgent need to recommit to what we truly believe is fundamental. This Grand Trine is triggered into motion by Mercury’s Opposition to Uranus while being on the Mid-point between Mars and Neptune. Violence is indicated by Mars in Cancer Opposite Pluto at 29 degrees of Capricorn. The potency of this configuration is long lasting. Venus Opposite Jupiter encourages us to extend beyond our foundations; steps taken will be very difficult to pull back from. We are willing to be “all in.” The New Moon is Trine Saturn (restrain); commonsense can win over impulsiveness. The Full MoonThe Full Moon on the 15th occurs at 4:28 PM EST on the 24th degree of Scorpio/Taurus. Pluto, on the last degree of Capricorn, is Trine Moon and Sextile Sun. This indicates that we are still in a time of deconstruction. With Uranus Conjunct the Moon Opposite the Sun the unexpected will shake up the direction of events. Venus in Capricorn is Square to the North and South Nodes of the Moon; we are taken back to material circumstances that need to be completed before we can go forward. There will be ongoing matters with infrastructure in the national and global arena. Each of us must pick up tasks neglected in our personal lives. Mercury (data) Opposite Jupiter (values) is potent and reinforced by the two being in Mutual Reception. Information is flying all over our personal landscape making it difficult to separate the truth from intentional falsehood. But even more important, we need to find out what is relevant. Because Jupiter is the only planet in an air sign, and is not happy in Gemini, a higher truth is momentarily obscured. Neptune in Trine to the Sun and Sextile the Moon reminds us to cling to our higher principles that come from the heart. The Sun enters SagittariusSun enters Sagittarius on the 21st at 2:58 PM EST. This will be a changing of the guard. The Sun is Sextile Pluto and in a Fire Grand Trine with the North Node of the Moon and Mars. The fire is lit and much of substance will burn over the next month. In Washington D.C., Venus in Capricorn on the MC is Sextile Saturn and Sesquiquadrate Uranus. Legal consolidation will take place. The Mutual Reception between Mercury Opposite Jupiter gathers further significance as the Moon in Leo is Trine Mercury and Sextile Jupiter. This is a calming influence for the general public even though there is still strife with Mars Opposite Pluto; their rulers Sun and Uranus are also Opposite each other. It is worth noting that our many prayers did have a positive effect.
The WeeksFrom the 1st through the 3rd the door behind us is permanently closed. Anger is a poor response to confusion and disappointment. There is no reason to lose our cool just because the world has lost its collective mind. At the same time, we all do have a responsibility to speak out and hold onto the hand of truth. From the 4th through the 10th the wisest will take a moment to examine the higher principles in operation. Discipline and emotional regulation let us build bridges into the lives of others we may have ignored. It is a time to rest, recuperate, and prepare for the next challenge. There are more to come. From the 11th through the 17th partnerships can be most instructive. We have to be truthful to our own perceptions but there are things going on we can’t see; others capture the essence of something that eludes us. We need to stand on decorum and see what is really appropriate. Help comes when we give authentically, measured, and without expectation. From the 18th through the 24th if we choose wisely then we are on a new path. We take others with us even if they don’t follow right now. All the time pieces are being recalibrated. Like Alice walking through the looking glass, the distortion in life can seem surreal. It gets clearer over the next few weeks. Regardless of our differences, God has put each of us exactly where we are supposed to be. Let us celebrate our differences…and learn something. From the 25th through the 30th reevaluating, taking stock of where we have been, cheering up the downtrodden, these are all good uses of this closing out time. We will put our shoulder to the wheel again next week but right now, the hallmark is share what we have and to rest. The Days1st – Friday – Mercury Contra-parallel Mars, the New Moon is on the 1st at 8:47 AM EDT on the 9th degree of Scorpio – After a few false starts we get our feet on solid ground. Even when we think our commonsense is guiding us, our feet are really following the path of our instincts. The face we show to the world lacks sincerity. The population of the world is gripped with a preoccupation of coming events. 2nd – Saturday – Mercury Trine Mars, Mercury Sextile Pluto, Mercury enters Sagittarius, Mercury Contra-parallel Jupiter – We can take a great leap when we exhaust all other options. Mental life is ablaze for no apparent reason. If we can recognize the underlying anxiety, there is a chance we can channel this energy into some productive purpose. 3rd – Sunday – Daylight Saving Time ends (Thank God), Mars Opposite Pluto, Venus Opposite Jupiter, Mars enters Leo – Dynamic tension and mental agility keeps everyone on their toes. And just when you think we have reached the fever pitch, the band starts singing louder. If we keep our head down and move on we can enjoy the show. We need to either put on noise canceling headphones, or be tied to the mast and listen to the sirens. 4th – Monday – Sun Sesquiquadrate Neptune, Sun Trine Saturn – Does fear or faith guide our path? Emotional energy is so overpowering it is hard to see the pavement in front of us. A mirage can look solid. Regardless of our eyesight or higher vision of truth, we must decide where we want to be at sunset. 5th – Tuesday – Mercury Parallel Pluto – It’s time to dig deep into the essence of what we already know. A propensity to search out new topics, or explore entertaining sidelights will only distract us. There is a time and place for intellectual adventure, but now we must go deeper with the information we already know, then act. What others do isn’t as important as what we do. 6th – Wednesday – Sticking to our ordinary routine keeps our mind occupied. Curiosity is likely to prompt us to connect with news clips or internet postings. What we must do may seem so less attractive than worldly events, but what actually satisfies us? Should we eat the food in front of us or just admire the food on everyone else’s plate around the restaurant? 7th – Thursday – Venus Quincunx Uranus – Just when we thought we were done with an uninteresting but necessary task, unfinished details appear. How could we have overlooked this? We need to stay on task, even when it feels that our friends are all going out for a night on the town and we are in the kitchen chopping carrots. This is an illusion. Appearances fool us if our mind wanders. 8th – Friday – If we aren’t confused, maybe it’s because we aren’t paying attention. It is one thing when the world doesn’t match our vision of how we would like it be; it’s another order of conflict when one weatherman says is raining and another says the sun is shining and they are both standing in our front yard. To go look for ourselves should solve the problem, but it doesn’t. Reserving judgment makes sense. 9th – Saturday – Venus Square Neptune – Not everything that looks like true love pans out. To be able to lift our feet up and fly away is a good thing; to actually kiss our old life behind and enter a new existence is not necessarily the best strategy for living. Regardless of the outcome, every adventure tells a story and teaches a lesson. We get to know ourselves better by paying attention. 10th – Sunday – Just because a bubble is burst, doesn’t have to mean disappointment. We win if we pluck the inherent underlying truth from our vision of a better life, expand on it, then find the correct way of implementing its essence. 11th – Monday – Sun Quincunx Jupiter, Venus Semi-sextile Pluto, Venus enters Capricorn – We may search for greener pastures or even look for more fertile soil. The feelings of self-confidence may be strong when we express our thoughts standing in our living room; however, it’s different when we sound off in Times Square. Internal isometrics between enthusiasm and fear gather strength because of our attachment to an outcome instead of truth. It’s time to get honest. 12th – Tuesday – Mercury Square Saturn – A knee jerk reaction to over-extension is to pull back. We desire to move forward but are forced to reevaluate what we are doing. An urgency of events demands an immediate response. Fear of outer circumstances can mistakenly lead us away from our necessary mission of self-reform. 13th – Wednesday – We all feel a big push to get our current projects over the finish line. Extra energy boosts us forward. Most people seem to have impulsive self-confidence. It’s easy to feel the weight of the historical circumstances shaping our lives, but we have an opportunity to get involved in our own way with our own capacity to help bring about a better world. 14th – Thursday – Venus Quincunx Mars, Mercury Semi-square Pluto – Preoccupation with making sure we get what we have coming can short-circuit our ability to get much done. To forget what others are doing and “tend our own garden” relieves social pressure and puts our attention on what matters. How others respond to our actions isn’t our affair. 15th – Friday – Saturn turns Direct, the Full Moon at 4:28 PM EST is on the 24th degree of Scorpio/Taurus, Sun Contra-parallel Uranus – The shape of events over a three-day period looks like “Divine Intervention” because they drift so far from the expected. Flights of fancy can have us entertaining all forms of impossible scenarios, but when the dust settles, it will be the most practical application of commonsense that will bring tangible results. We are blessed. 16th – Saturday – Sun Opposite Uranus – This is one of those times when it takes a catapult to get us over the wall in front of us. Our choice is moot; we are on the move unless we are frozen in fear or just completely unaware. Regardless of preferences or acts of will, the world just changed. An underground revolution of consciousness has started to manifest and will tantalize and entertain for several years. 17th – Sunday – Mars Semi-square Jupiter – With an overpowering need to grow, we look for ways forward. News coming in from the home front is contradictory and confusing. Somehow we still cling to some age old feeling of self-satisfaction and a belief that if we get what we want we can help others. Who do we look to in history that really helped people? What did they do? What can we do? 18th – Monday – Mercury Opposite Jupiter, Mercury Sesquiquadrate Mars, Sun Trine Jupiter – Our mind expands and we want to tell everyone or anyone what we see, understand, or believe. Our personally collected facts and our belief in a specific universal truth don’t match. The dilemma is that if we take time to evaluate and get a balanced assessment of our mental situation, we will miss the opportunity to grab the brass ring. We must act, but without hubris. 19th – Tuesday – Pluto enters Aquarius – There is unrest in the hemisphere, but also promise of a better day. Other people’s secrets are out in the open, what we do with this information forms our character. For each of us, if the desire to nurture is stronger than the wish to hurt, the path to freedom opens. 20th – Wednesday – Venus Sesquiquadrate Uranus – The atmosphere is electric, and we live with an expectation that something is getting ready to happen. As luck would have it, there is a higher way out of recent unpleasantness. Harmony can be found without violence. We are at a point of no return. 21st – Thursday – Sun enters Sagittarius at 2:58 PM EST, Sun Sextile Pluto – Even though we move into a period of adventure, it is our traditional and conservative instincts that ultimately save the day for everyone. We can’t fly without first establishing a permanent footing on the ground. Patience is illusive but we don’t make progress without it. 22nd – Friday – Venus Sextile Saturn – Reliability and responsibility are the backbone of relationships that have lasting impact. In love, this is not about some transactional relationship of intimacy for security. Instead, in solid interactions, we have the opportunity to peel back layers of pretense and illusion. Trust brings warmth and inner satisfaction. 23rd – Saturday – Truth is not lodged in the details of the moment. But once aligned with a higher truth, sifting through the patterns of circumstances that brought us here is a good use of our investigative tools. The heart leads, then the head follows to build a tangible platform to stand on. 24th – Sunday – Analytical mechanisms have tested our fears and security concerns, now we must challenge the grounding of our faith. Transformation begins with each of us individually. Culture shifts will come in time. The biggest sin during this period is to believe your energy, commitment, and life doesn’t matter. It does. 25th – Monday – Mercury turns Retrograde – After looking at our fears and insecurities, we now must turn our attention to our illusions, dreams, and aspirations. If we use this period of inspiration and self-examination wisely, we will come out the other side knowing what we believe and why. Spiritual growth has not been this available since the last time we were stuck in the Kali Yuga. 26th – Tuesday – Venus Quincunx Jupiter, Mercury Parallel Venus, Sun Contra-parallel Mars – We know the right words to say and how to make peace; we have the will to channel our baser impulses in an intelligent direction. The tangible connections between ourselves and loved ones provide opportunities to set priorities. Boundaries emerge as natural limitations. We will run out of time, so first things first. 27th – Wednesday – Sun Trine Mars – If we have the fortitude to leap (as the opportunity is in front of us) great progress is made quickly. Without consideration for others’ immediate feelings, our actions still benefit all in our network. 28th – Thursday – Kindness never goes out of style, but we must be prepared to put up with others who are not on the same path. Harmony doesn’t come right away but a little discord adds to the overall texture of the symphony. 29th – Friday – Mercury Semi-sextile Venus – Regardless of the results, it is important that our values and actions agree. It’s ok to change our mind, our orientation, or even our way of living. We can’t control others, but we can restrict our own emotions when they are running away with us. Silence and stillness can give us time to settle down. 30th – Saturday – Mercury Sesquiquadrate Mars – Impressions of days gone by flow in front of our mind’s eye. A flash of inspiration can project us into motion. We leave something behind, but focusing on what we have gained reminds us that this long journey has been worth it. Gratitude would be the right response. Bob Mulligan is available for personal appointments, astrology classes, and astrological material. Call him at 239-261-2840 or by e-mail at bobmulliga@aol.com. Visit our web site, www.theastrologycompany.com My Personal NoteOn Wednesday, October 2nd we had a solar eclipse. I walked out at about 10 pm for a walk around my neighborhood. There were people of all ages gathering in the street talking with their neighbors. There was a spontaneous party in the street on the night of the 2nd. This eclipse was in Libra, the sign of relating. My book, “The Heart of Astrology” keeps coming along as we are preparing for publication. The release date of February 15th 2025 is still secure. The coming out party for the official release will be at the one day workshop “Astrology, Karma, and Reincarnation” (based on Chapter 10 of the book). This workshop is sponsored by my dear friends at the NCGR South Florida Chapter and will be both in person at Nova University in Ft. Lauderdale, and online. If you are coming in person, please register early so we can get a larger room if needed. You can register at: Bob Mulligan: Astrology, Karma, and Reincarnation – AstrologyFla. If you are coming from far away, I’m happy to help you connect with others for transportation and housing. My daughter, Bailey, is now working with me a few days a week. She is taking over much of Katie’s job now that Katie is doing her internship in Big Cypress. Bailey is also doing the final line editing with me over “The Heart of Astrology.” I’ve said that Kamala Harris would be the next President of the United States. My daughter, Katie, reminded me that many years ago, Alan Oken said that Kamala Harris would be president one day while looking at her chart in a workshop at my home in Naples, Florida in 2010. As I said, we all have prejudices and preferences. My own prejudice is for Harris because she represents proficiency, intelligence, honesty, and kindness. There is a principle in astrology called the natal promise. In other words, if it wasn’t shown in the natal chart, it won’t happen. There are hundreds of indicators in Kamala’s natal chart manifesting at this time, but I will just mention the most obvious one. She was born with Sun Trine Saturn. Her progressed Sun on Election Day is half way between the two, Sextile both Natal Sun and Saturn. This materializes her natal promise. There are plenty of other indicators; if there is sufficient interest I could make a video. I’ve watched dozens of videos by other astrologers and observed their astrological reasoning on the election. I’ve discussed this election with a number of my colleagues. There are some good thoughts and opinions expressed; how far down in the weeds do we want to go? I will take up monthly Question and Answer sessions after the first of the year. Here are a couple of songs you might enjoy.
