The Astrology Company: March 2025 by Bob MulliganMarch 2025By Bob Mulligan (a personal note is at the end of the newsletter)
March Highlights March 2025 is a humdinger of a month. Venus and Mercury turn Retrograde, the Vernal Equinox is highlighted with several transits by Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Neptune; we have two Eclipses; Neptune goes into Aries for the first time since the Civil War. It’s fair to say that in terms of cosmic activity, March of 2025 ends up at the top of the list. March 1st Venus turns Retrograde at 10 Degrees Aries and will turn Direct on April 12th at 24 degrees Pisces. This is a time for review. Emotional adventures and bald assertions from the last few months need correction. Mercury enters Aries on the 3rd. Our vision clears and we feel more assertive. Even old news seems fresh; our impulse is to keep moving forward. Mercury turns Retrograde on the 15th ushering in three weeks of mental review. Retrospectives are always an opportunity to learn. This rewind will put us on a different footing in our own lives by helping us identify realms for possible shifts. Sun enter Aries on the 20th. The first day of spring gives us an opportunity to illuminate our pathway to the future by embracing the love received just before we were kicked out of the nest. Sun Conjunct Mercury on the 24th. We are in a mental rewind and can forget the difficulties and gain strength to take a plunge into the great unknown. Venus Retrogrades back into Pisces then Conjuncts Neptune on the 27th. We get a rush of reinforcement from seeing clearly how we used to be. Our past self can encourage us to be our best self. The New Moon comes on the 29th, then Mercury Retrogrades back into Pisces and Conjuncts Neptune. This demonstrates what we are capable of achieving through a leap of faith. We are better than what has been the controlling mental force in our personal lives. Again we get back up for the struggle ahead. Neptune enters Aries on the 30th. This is a preview of the very active and emotional time to come. On the 22nd of October, Neptune will Retrograde back into Pisces and remain there until January 26th, 2026. This month we get a cultural preview of the next 14 years. The Full Moon The Full Moon on the 14th is a Total Lunar Eclipse at 23 degrees 57 minutes of Pisces/Virgo at 2:56 AM EDT. Sun is Conjunct Saturn and the North Node. With Neptune ruling from his own sign Pisces, this pattern requires us to relinquish our “castles made of sand” and to embrace the impermanence of life as a good thing. With Uranus Trine the Moon and Sextile the Sun, we are apt to become aware of earth changes that, while unsettling, can be a continuous form of motivation. Mars Trine the Sun and Sextile the Moon- continuous effort leads us to a place where good changes in our personal lives carries us to some level of inner fulfillment. Sometimes taking care of our own garden is the best way to do our part to save the planet. The Sun enters Aries Sun enters Aries at 5:03 AM EDT on the 20th. Because of the Sun’s close proximity to Neptune, and the North Node of the Moon still languishing at the end of Pisces, we will enter the astrological New Year still smarting from the wounds of last year. However, there is a strong message unfolding over the next three months. Connecting dots means seeing how we cause our own difficulties. The mischief we attribute to others, and life circumstances, is really just a matter of perspective. The Moon in Sagittarius Trines Sun, Venus and Mercury. There will be much energy and enthusiasm looking forward. Mars Trines Saturn in water signs shows we work hard for our beliefs, but only if our emotional force stays with us. This fire and water dominated chart shows progress is dependent on consistency which will only be intermittent. The New Moon The New Moon on the 29th is a Partial Solar Eclipse occurring at 6:58 AM EDT at 9 degrees Aries. Mercury and Venus are Retrograde, Conjunct Neptune, and straddling the Equinox Point. This rare configuration highlights the meaning of everything new is really a recycling of ideas we have come across before. It’s like we are sitting in church and suddenly realize the meaning of the hymn we are singing. Sometimes the Infinite gets so close to the finite that we are easily swept up in joy. With Mercury Sextile Pluto, we are rewarded for trying something innovative. Uranus (mother of invention) sits midway between Mars and Saturn being Sextile both. Our efforts are rewarded and we are lifted. This fire and water chart is in a bowl shape and we will keep diving to discover the deeper meaning of life over the next month. The Weeks From the 1st to the 9th overstatement and confusion can send us on a series of “wild goose chases”. However, if we are prudent with efforts and keep our commonsense engaged, the universe is filling in the empty spaces with a breath of fresh air. Some people will embrace the change; all will feel the updraft. From the 10th to the 16th in order to get organized we take a few steps back. Pesky details trip us up unless we guess which ones actually matter and address them. This is a confusing time. If we attempt to power our way through every roadblock, we are eventually slowed by obstacles that keep multiplying. Patience cures difficulties. From the 17th to the 23rd we have the tools we need. The road ahead is inviting. We have learned our lessons for the next step forward. Now, the application of time-honored principles puts us on the path of self-discovery. And the good news is, we have been on the right track for a while. From 24th to the 31st mentally, we are getting a new lease on life. Perspectives change, desires are altered, so much of what we need has been with us right along. Dreams become reality by paying attention and breathing life into them. Rather than asking for more, it is time to acknowledge what we have done and take a rest. The Days 1st – Saturday – Venus turns Retrograde – There are things we wish for, and dream about. How many of these things are we willing to invest time, money, and energy into materializing? We win if we choose wisely. 2nd – Sunday – Mercury Conjunct Neptune, Sun Square Jupiter – Too much information can cloud our vision. Our vision may be cloudy, grandiose, and unrealistic; but it’s time to take a look at the obvious- “there’s gold in them there hills”. We need to choose. What will really matter in the long run? Being caught between two worlds leaves us ineffective in both. 3rd – Monday – Mercury enters Aries – We can see more clearly now. Ideas come in rapid fire succession. And at the same time, energy is low and slow to be replenished. Staying close to the home fires is rewarding. We are most effective when working with pre-established connections. 4th – Tuesday – Mercury Contra-parallel Neptune – Fond pictures of what might be coming our way clouds our thinking. There are matters close at hand that need immediate attention. It isn’t a matter of identifying what must happen; we have to gather the will to do it. The best strategy today is to take one step in the right direction, and then the next. 5th – Wednesday – Mercury Sextile Pluto – We may have to be out in front of ourselves, but there is no time for a test run; we see what needs to happen and just do it. Later won’t do. A missed opportunity will still teach us something if we are in the mood to learn. 6th – Thursday – There are plenty of fish in the sea, but we only need one to make a meal. We can have a safer and more fulfilling journey if we make some slight course corrections now. A tight focus on the inevitable results gets us to our prescribed destination fastest. 7th – Friday – Sun Parallel Saturn – Even when we know exactly what we are going to do, we must be patient. The right action only has meaning when performed at the right time. It’s time to reassert our higher values, put them forward, and then wait. We each have a part to play, only so much, and no more. 8th – Saturday – Sun Trine Mars, Sun Semi-square Pluto, Sun Contra-parallel Mercury – Domestic issues take up space as they should. Once basic needs are handled, and emotional bonds have been addressed, we can turn our attention to a larger arena. Self-care doesn’t mean running away from the world at large. We are getting our second wind and others need our attention. 9th – Sunday – Mercury Contra-parallel Saturn – We can see much more than we can possible incorporate. Seeing missed opportunities and people backing away from situations that would have been in their best interest, it’s easy to become disheartened. Accepting the world as it is doesn’t mean giving up the higher ideals. Peace, love, and beauty are close at hand. 10th – Monday – On the other side of rain, the Sun comes out. A quick turnaround puts us on positive footing. Our mood won’t necessarily lift, but this is a start. Letting go of unproductive habits of thinking is the key to letting the light shine in. 11th – Tuesday – Venus Semi-square Uranus, Mercury Conjunct Venus – We are destined to try something new, even if we are caught in a rut. Imaginary pictures guide our mind to the impossible and then back to common experience. A little mental vacation helps us cope with the long road in front. 12th – Wednesday – Mercury Semi-square Uranus, Sun Conjunct Saturn – We try to communicate our insights, but time is better spent listening to others. Slow progress is ok, but it’s important to see if our wheels are making any progress, or just spinning in the mud. Getting in tune with the rhythm of the universe means facing what is. 13th – Thursday – If we are simple, only wanting one thing, the path is easy. With lots of demands and qualifications, progress is slow to the point of non-existent. Clues from the environment can put us back in tune with our true heart’s desire. Life is very confusing if we don’t stay grounded. 14th – Friday – The Full Moon is at 23 degrees 57 minutes of Pisces/Virgo at 2:56 AM EDT – Sun Sextile Uranus – We take the next step into a new area of consciousness. Forced empathy is not a foundation for a sustained relationship with something beyond our ordinary vision. However, call it fear, or maybe just accidental cadence, somehow we get a higher vision of life without limitations. 15th – Saturday – Mercury turns Retrograde – Our thoughts have more intensity. Caution with recommendations and promises is commonsense. Taking care of our own business is much more important than giving advice. Others will make mistakes; we are responsible for our own, and to be of assistance to others when asked. 16th – Sunday – Sun Parallel Neptune – The truly blessed are those who recognize the beauty of the moment. There is nothing to do but be present and appreciate the gifts of creation. Every so often the veil of illusion gets thinner. 17th – Monday – Mercury Semi-square Uranus – Is the knowledge we uncover today worthy of our attention? Is the match we hold to illuminate the instructions burning a hole in the page? The difficulties we are experiencing stem from the fact that there are pent up emotions that need release, and once the cork is popped, who knows where it will go? Gradual release of the pressure would make sense, but is difficult to obtain. The best we can do is to avoid doing harm. 18th – Tuesday – Energy directed to domestic tasks has a way of improving our standing. Others are helped through our actions, even when we are only looking at the tasks that need completing. Foundations for change come through basic attention to self- improvement by cleaning up the environment. 19th – Wednesday – Sun Conjunct Neptune – One last push for personal change before we let go of the past. Prison reform looks different after we make parole. To understand the meaning and purpose of our limitations in itself is liberating. We need to gather instruction for living when we can. All our current gyrations will be academic very soon. 20th – Thursday – Sun enters Aries at 5:03 AM EDT on the 20th. Enthusiasm builds and we stretch our legs because we are up for a new journey, powered by our own motor. More goodness got passed along than we imagined in the last few months. Flowers are pressing up through the snow. The love beautifies the terrain because it is the nature of reality; every so often, us common folk get a glimpse of what the Divine is up to. 21st – Friday – Venus Sextile Pluto – Reminiscing about our last attempts to heal the “body politic” remind us that our job is to keep civilization and culture alive. Have faith. Taking a stand on truth always has significance; what others do is not our responsibility. We do have to live with what we do. 22nd – Saturday – Sun Conjunct Venus – It never hurts to put our best foot forward, but we can receive a special boost if we have our sights set on the appropriate target. Modest observations, put to the right use, lift everyone’s spirits. We need to segment our efforts so that personal life gets the lion’s share of our attention. Mistakes made in the last month can be cleared up. 23rd – Sunday – Sun Contra-parallel Neptune, Sun Sextile Pluto – Our advantage today is that we compartmentalize our attention and time. There is no wasted effort if we simply take what is ours, give the rest away, and eliminate the waste. We can see the future as a mirror image of what has gone before. We will turn over a new leaf soon enough. 24th – Monday – Sun Conjunct Mercury – Sparks fly as we try to ignite the same passion we once enjoyed. Even though the old energy isn’t present, something new happens, and we are able to get a new expression for an old theme. This all occurs because we have learned to be observant. We have a run going that will last until summer. 25th – Tuesday – Mercury Contra-parallel Saturn, Mercury Sextile Pluto – Looking for a beam of light is exhausting. Instead of rearranging the furniture in our home, we need to remove all our belongings and start over. Reformation has to begin with us or it is meaningless. If we want freedom, we have to recognize the cause of our imprisonment. 26th – Wednesday – Just because there is no joy in our old tricks, doesn’t mean there is no avenue to pleasure. When we help others get free from their limitations, the sky opens to new possibilities. The key to happiness comes through faith in life, self, and the divine plan. 27th – Thursday – Venus Retrogrades back into Pisces, Venus Conjunct Neptune, Sun Parallel Mercury – When we strive for peace, joy, and beauty, we set the stage for something much higher. Our emotional stability comes, and then our mental life can fulfill the higher destiny. We dodge back and forth between a beautiful illusion and an uncomfortable perception of reality. It gets better, I promise. 28th – Friday – We try on a dozen hats, searching for one that fits. Are we tired of having too many outfits? Eliminating all avenues of subterfuge, perhaps we can get lucky and just be ourselves. We are closer to reality by tossing aside the all-too-obvious camouflage. It is time to be fearless and to embrace our strength. 29th – Saturday – The New Moon is on the 29th at 6:58 AM EDT at 9 Aries. This is a Partial Solar Eclipse, Mercury Retrogrades back into Pisces, Mercury Conjuncts Neptune, the Sun Semi-squares Uranus – Sitting still is not an option. We can’t be kind to others when we aren’t kind to ourselves. The good news is that we have all the tools to move in a new direction. Change starts by acknowledging the alterations in the global situation, and our position within the larger community. So much seems to be life and death; we must remember what is really important and take our stand. 30th – Sunday – Neptune enters Aries, Sun Contra-parallels Saturn – New possibilities prick our imagination. At the same time our options seem limited. We are easily caught between a higher reality and our feelings of personal inadequacy. Being relaxed and staying engaged allows us to move through this period with as much grace as possible. 31st – Monday – Mercury Contra-parallel Neptune – More than a little nostalgia has us longing to put the “genie back in the bottle.” It’s official, the world we grew up in is gone. However, the ingenuity and ideals live on regardless. The goodness we find in ourselves lives somewhere in everyone else. The wild ride just got wilder. My Personal Note The workshop I did for NCGR Atlantic Chapter on February 15th in Ft. Lauderdale was wonderful. I got to see so many of my old friends. I was with Fernanda Day in Ft. Lauderdale from the 13th until the 16th. It was really heartwarming and great fun. After getting back to Myrtle Beach, I mailed out books and recorded a beginning piece of the workshop that was missed. Then I became ill and just now am seeing the light of day. We all have karma, a life mission, and orders for things to do in a lifetime. I’ve checked off all of the boxes. It’s uncertain what I must do yet. Maybe nothing. This life has been very full. My book, “The Heart of Astrology: on the Spiritual Path” is out and it’s beautiful; Paula Belluomini did an excellent job with the design, layout, and illustrations. People seem quite ecstatic about it. It’s available from me, the publisher, and Amazon. Of the original 100 signed and numbered copies of the book, I still have 50 left. If you’d like to purchase one, e-mail me at bobmulliga@aol.com. The publisher, Regulus, has been great at getting books to people in the USA, England, and Australia. Amazon has been advertizing the book, but I haven’t heard from anyone who got it from them yet. Here is a song you might enjoy: Bob Dylan – Buckets of Rain cover by Toni Lindgren “Pure love is matchless in majesty, it has no parallel in power and there is no darkness it cannot dispel. It is the undying flame that has set all life aglow. The light of love is not free from its fire of sacrifices. In fact, like heat and light, love and sacrifice, so to say, go hand in hand. The true spirit of sacrifice that springs spontaneously does not and cannot reserve itself for particular objects and special occasions. May you one day behold the ever-shining Light of Love that never dies and knows no darkness.” -Meher Baba
