July 2025

July Highlights

July 2025 intensifies the already worldwide systemic edginess.  Collective violence, global warming, and intransient ideological polarization are the effect of the ripening of planetary consciousness.  Saturn (fear) and Neptune (faith) are close together in Aries (initiating). They both turn Retrograde in July.  Mars (ruler of Aries) is in Virgo (sign of analysis) all month, indicating that every detail merits examination. Astrology shows that we are on the brink of war globally, it’s palpable; we feel it. When a planet changes signs, the energy of the sign changes the planet’s focus. In 12 months this has happened to the five most distant planets: Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, Saturn, and Jupiter.  We are in a sea change that appears to be beyond our individual making.  It’s best to focus on the changes in our personal lives and to secure physical health; mental and emotional changes will follow.  Everyone’s spiritual quest is about to become exponentially more interesting.

On the 4th – Neptune turns Retrograde.  This is Neptune’s first Retrograde since entering Aries.  Ideological polarization will intensify globally.  Inflation and belligerence will be taken for granted. This is a great time to cleanse our hearts and to corral our actions.  Our efforts receive cosmic support for the rest of 2025.

Also on the 4th Venus enters Gemini right after Conjuncting Uranus.  There will be people in the global theater that will try to stem the tide of negative emotions in the world by appealing to reason.  We can all do our part by contributing good thoughts and actions.  Let’s find our chair in the orchestra.

On the 7th Uranus enters Gemini.  This happens every 84 years. Uranus was here in 1776, returning at the time of the Civil War, and once again at WWII.  Now we have it upon us.  Uranus is revolution in thought, Gemini is the sign of consciousness; yes, this can mean war, but for each of us, it can usher in a change in perspective.

On the 13th Saturn turns Retrograde. We enter a period of sifting through options.  What do we have going that is worth our time?  Decisions made now will supply directions until November when Saturn turns Direct.

On the 18th Mercury turns Retrograde at the 15th degree of Leo.  Personal choices over the next three weeks will harness our mind to a course of action with far reaching consequences.

The Full Moon

The Full Moon is on the 10th at 4:38 PM EDT at 10 degrees and 50 minutes of Cancer/Capricorn.  The river washes us clean.  Mars is Trine the Moon and Sextile the Sun; Mars is also Semi-sextile Mercury and Conjunct the South Node of the Moon.  Mars in Virgo does the sifting. Discrimination points us to the items worth saving, circumstances remove the unnecessary.  We have the potency to accomplish much if we have the will to use it.

Pluto Sextile Saturn/Neptune and Trine Uranus/Venus supplies great encouragement to accomplish anything that is within the parameters that have already been laid down.  We may see pre-existing circumstances in a new light.  A window of opportunity allows us to express something that needed to be said.

The Sun enters Leo

Sun enters Leo on the 22nd at 9:31 AM EDT, introducing a new dynamic.  The Leo solar month will be more stressful than we would expect for mid-summer.  Sun Opposite Pluto forces us to choose between staying with our tribe or switching allegiance to the other side. The Sun’s Trine to Saturn/Neptune and Sextile to Uranus pushes us to hurry up and commit. Venus in Gemini Square to Mars in Virgo puts extra pressure on most relationships.  Both signs are ruled by a Retrograde Mercury in Leo.  The gate is open all month to untangle any misunderstanding through establishing better communication.

The New Moon

The New Moon at 2 degrees of Leo is on the 24th at 3:11 PM EDT.  The Trine between the New Moon and the Saturn Neptune Conjunction defines the strengths and challenges of the month in front of us.  Enthusiasm of the moment runs into strong headwinds, and Jupiter in his exaltation in Cancer rising before the Sun, suggests that we all tend to be in a hurry.  The difficulties and encouragement we have received recently seem to have run their course. Because the Sun is the final dispositor, the Sun (personal will) ends up having the final say in all matters.  World circumstances won’t be as bruising or as bad as they first appear.  The promise of a brighter day is still there.

The Weeks

From the 1st to the 6th picking away at a series of interconnected puzzles can be fascinating.  Even minor accomplishments lift our spirits.  Recent achievements carry with them the lingering possibility of greater victories to come.  New opportunities sprout from the soil as some seeds have taken root.  Our job is to recognize the tools we have been given and apply them.

From the 7th to the 13th the drive to accomplish is overwhelming. Success comes by focusing on practical returns from our investment of time and energy. Strides forward can cause a negative reaction if we lack follow-through. Belief in ourselves and our cause needs to be moderated by a genuine concern for the needs of others.  Even when others are wrong, their feelings matter.

From the 14th to the 20th our second thoughts might be our best ones.  Fragile starts in new directions reveal teaching moments furthering our ability to grow in a joyful direction. Discipline leads the way to harnessing our ideals and bringing them closer to manifestation. We need to be certain that we can stand by our words before we utter them.

From the 21st to the 27th confidence has its place, but overbearing advances in important interactions limit our ability to further our cause.  Differences in outlook come from conflicting information and histories. Saving our friends and loved ones from protracted struggles requires us to be open to alternative interpretations. Conversations with the volume toned down lays the groundwork for future understanding.

From the 28th to the 31st the pull of the past is there. Emotional impressions from our history are wonderful if our feelings engender a kindness for our fellow humans, creation, and the creator. Everyone in our lives loses when our actions are rooted in the desire to please everyone.  Love starts with being authentic and learning.

The Days

1st – Tuesday –  Sun Contra-parallel Pluto –  Reorganization from top to bottom helps right the ship. Our next step must be measured.  Close attention to our own actions creates a passage to endure the rainstorm without any feeling of responsibility falling on our shoulders.

2nd – Wednesday –  We have ideas and tools that could help others.  Now the question is, “what is appropriate?”  Including others in our family circle requires us to explore how the circle got formed in the first place.

3rd – Thursday – Every attempt to create harmony seems to meet obstacles.  We gain traction when we recognize that we ourselves are responsible for the great gulf between us and our friends and partners. Learning to focus on the positive without the intrusion of out-of-bounds criticism, carries us to a new level of development.

4th – Friday –  Venus Conjunct Uranus, Venus enters Gemini, Neptune turns Retrograde, Mercury Parallel Venus –  If we have the courage to act without hesitation, we can put every relationship in our lives on a more positive footing.  Innovation has a way of leading us back to ideals, people, and circumstances that we espouse, but have actually overlooked in our daily routines.  Including others in our daily life makes all tasks easier.

5th – Saturday –  Purging our lives of the ideas, people, and unwanted collectables is healthy.  What we have outgrown can be a valuable treasure for someone else. We develop in the process of helping others.

6th – Sunday –  Venus Sextile Saturn, Venus Sextile Neptune, Sun Semi-square Uranus –  Kindness and originality lift the spirit of today’s adventure.  Self-discipline imposes a structure that allows us to enjoy the day, while the fabric of civilization seems at risk.  We see the changes that have come about in the world that make planning difficult.  We can’t do what we used to do because it is no longer possible.

7th – Monday –  Uranus enters Gemini, Venus Trine Pluto –  Our progressive ideas get a shot in the arm.  We can recommit to our values, bypass all our self doubt, and take a big step forward.  In the process of tidying up our lives, something new happens.  When we see the opportunities in front, the past disappearing isn’t so bad.

8th – Tuesday –  Mild uneasiness is epidemic. This alone explains people’s movements which appear to be incoherent and irrational. We favor a form of selective sequencing that seems to create a staccato patterning.  There is a cohesive fabric coming together from what seems like unique disconnected bursts.  What looks like short attention span (that seems to impregnate everyone’s mental life) is a byproduct of a global shift in consciousness.

9th – Wednesday –  After a period of exploration, the hankering for order and predictable routine is on our minds.  There’s a noticeable tension between the urge to expand our realm, and the need to feel that we truly belong.  Circumstances beyond our vision or control assert themselves and make decisions for us.  Caution is the watchword; self-assertion complicates matters.  It’s best to be observant and patient.

10th – Thursday – The Full Moon is at 4:38 PM EDT at 10 degrees and 50 minutes of Cancer/Capricorn, Venus Semi-sextile Jupiter, Jupiter Contra-parallel Pluto –  The end result of hard work and continual striving brings us to a natural conclusion.  Freedom comes as we get into the flow of conversation and appreciate everyone else’s struggles. As we take time away from our own concerns, the beauty of life fills our senses and expands our perception of the world.

11th – Friday – Creating distance from others doesn’t imply disinterest.  Separation can give perspective.  Our own troubles look miniscule when measured against the fate of the world population. Detachment allows more careful analysis; compassion opens the door to usefulness.

12th – Saturday –  A new love interest can spice up the atmosphere.  As it turns out, even when the names change, we are in for a repeat experience. This is good news if we have been having a good time. Nothing external has to alter, only our inner state and level of observation.

13th – Sunday –  Saturn turns Retrograde – Obeying the natural laws increases our appreciation for the way life is unfolding.  Finding our spot doesn’t impel us to become inert. Movements can be authentic and experimental. By hit or miss, we find our way forward.

14th – Monday –  A warm glow of satisfaction allows us to share without regret.  Self-confidence gives us the backbone to focus on our positive qualities, and by extension, the best in everyone else. Affirming the supremacy of the divine light that permeates creation lifts us into a higher vision of life.

15th – Tuesday – Venus Parallel Uranus –  Our tendency is to gather facts from every direction.  Options emerge as time passes.  For the moment, we are enjoying the thrill of something new happening at unmarked intervals. We will be on a well-marked road again soon.

16th – Wednesday – With a little extra push we come closer to our goal.  Everything we do requires our complete attention.  The good news is that as long as we keep moving, any help we need shows up. Whatever we concentrate on expands.

17th – Thursday –  Mars Sesquiquadrate Pluto – Innovation runs up against those who would play it safe.  It will be a bit of a struggle, but the spirit of adventure and uncontrollable energy punches a hole in the slow steady hand of fate.  We momentarily break free and start a movement toward a new normal.

18th – Friday –  Mercury turns Retrograde, Mercury Sextile Venus –  We can’t go it alone, and we don’t need to.  But we do  need to check our facts and be culpable for our own errors.  Once our actions and words have been decided and catalogued, we must support our opinions.  It’ time to stand up and be counted.  We can make a point without poking anyone.

19th – Saturday –  Sun Parallel Venus –  A little kindness brings others into our fold.  And at the same time, we can come to appreciate what others are doing, and come to understand why.  Our circle expands when we join other people’s mission.  Comfort comes in many shapes and sizes.

20th – Sunday –  Venus Sesquiquadrate Pluto –  A sudden turn of events opens new possibilities.  We go from relaxed to rapid-fire inspiration.  It’s easy to misread signals.  Less is required of us than the landscape suggests.  People in our lives need something from us, it is probably just a word or two; it certainly isn’t one of our kidneys.

21st – Monday – Something we completed needs a few finishing touches.  In order to be comfortable, we must placate others. We may inadvertently sweet talk our way back into a difficulty with those in our circle.  But careful conversation unveils information that is most useful and will pay dividends, either right now or shortly.  In either case, it makes sense to pay close attention to what others offer up.

22nd – Tuesday – Sun enters Leo at 9:31 AM EDT, Sun Parallel Uranus – Optimism and joy supply the tonic that allows us to make better decisions. The magic of the moment is that we can make plans that deal with a new reality. At the same time, our treasured ideals and beliefs can still be expressed. Our values don’t suffer when we are building character.

23rd – Wednesday –  Sun Sextile Uranus, Venus Square Mars –  Harmony is difficult to achieve as everyone seems to be singing a different tune or signing a different language. Hunting for a common thread of intention allows us to envision real togetherness. Alternately, we can all just go our own way.  When we emphasize the positive elements of the day, we harvest the best of the crop.

24th – Thursday –  Sun Trine Saturn, Sun Trine Neptune, the New Moon at 2 degrees of Leo is at 3:11 PM EDT –  We need structure, routines, commitment, and consistency in order to be reliable enough for others to count on us.  This is important because if we climb the mountain alone, we won’t be happy at the top.  Renewal comes as grace descends.  Surrendering to our higher impulses erases past mistakes. It’s time to start over.

25th – Friday – Sun Opposite Pluto – Change comes by way of disruption.  We can be led into complacency; believing alterations in nature, the nation, the globe have nothing directly to do with us.  However, the fact that we cling to our personal life, circumstances, and possessions points to the fact that we all have an impact on each other.  Strife is the problem, harmony is the solution; which side of the equation are we on?

26th – Saturday –  Peaceful solutions present themselves.  We can see different paths forward; and at the same time, new details emerge. Simplicity is more important than looking for an unrealistic and imaginary ideal of perfection. Some things in life have to match a standard in order to be accepted; others, not so much. To know the difference is wisdom.

27th – Sunday – Our balance is easily upset by outside forces. Concentrating on positive influences builds confidence and hope.  Conversations are a source of learning. How to tell the facts and not hurt anyone’s feelings? To thread the needle in every incident is beyond the doable. To stay connected to the ground allows us to be connected to everything else.

28th – Monday –  Mercury Semi-square Venus, Mercury Semi-sextile Jupiter – A helping hand is extended. Our job is to recognize it and receive what is offered. Picking up the details and moving in tempo with the new assistance only requires trust. This isn’t so easy when the world seems so unsettled and uncertain. We have nothing to lose, and that is our redemption. The ocean is rough; we are developing sea legs.

29th – Tuesday –  Mercury Semi-sextile Jupiter – The dinner is good, but it is easy to eat more than we can digest. Our interests are personal and massive.  The restrictions are significant and we prosper if we stay within the guardrails.  Corralling our attention, and focusing our eyes where they are needed, helps us fall back into habits we learned in childhood.  Our roots are our comfort and salvation.

30th – Wednesday –  Mercury Semi-square Mars, Venus moves into Cancer –  A touch of nostalgia actually clears the air.  Our desire to contribute something tangible to other people’s lives is good.  The reality of the circumstances widens our vision.  Family, friends, and simple goodness remembered from seasons gone by lift our spirits; they should be embraced.

31st – Thursday – Venus Semi-sextile Uranus, Sun Conjunct Mercury – We have reached a crescendo. The next leg of the journey is built on the foundations laid over the last month; a new superstructure will be erected. World conditions are bubbling over.  We need each other to survive the next round of difficulties.  Oh, the planet will still be here and people will still populate the land.  Just because it seems that civilization is ending, doesn’t mean that all is lost.  Something new is on its way.

My Personal Note

July 10th is the anniversary of Meher Baba beginning His silence in 1925.  He maintained silence through the rest of His physical life.  In memory of this, Baba lovers throughout the world maintain verbal silence for 24 hours.  This year the 10th of July is a very potent Full Moon.

I’ve just finished “By Jove” by Liz Greene.  It is an excellent book on Jupiter, certainly one of my three favorite books on Jupiter.  I plan on reading it again soon.  My longtime friend Arlan Wise recommended it and it is certainly Liz Greene’s finest books that she has produced in her long career.  Greene, Liz.  By Jove!. Swanage, England: Wessex Astrologer, 2025.

“The Heart of Astrology” was reviewed in both the OPA magazine and APAI Newsletter:   Here is links to both:

Joe DiSabatino gave a talk I enjoyed “Astrology of America”.  It was well thought out, documented, and well presented.  He uses very different techniques than my own, but arrived at many of the same conclusions . The link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlUTB9Ye-sk&t=669s

I hear all music as an outpouring of love to the divine: everything, from “Paradise by the Dashboard Light “ to “ Ave Maria”.  Here are three you might enjoy:

“Your soul knows the geography of your destiny. Your soul alone has the map of your future, therefore you can trust this indirect, oblique side of yourself. If you do, it will take you where you need to go, but more important it will teach you a kindness of rhythm in your journey.”
