The Astrology Company: September 2025 by Bob MulliganSeptember 2025By Bob Mulligan (a personal note is at the end of the newsletter)
September HighlightsHere are a few important guideposts for September. At the very beginning of September, a Retrograde Saturn reenters Pisces, where until May he had resided for more than 2 years. We had become accustomed to the lord of boundaries and time being in the sign of limitless possibilities. After his four month hiatus he has returned to the familiar territory of imagination. On the 1st Saturn retrogrades back into Pisces, on the 6th Uranus turns retrograde. Now every planet from Saturn on out is Retrograde. September becomes a land of repeating and replanting experiences. But, as Heraclitus said “you cannot step into the same river twice”. Mercury enters Virgo on the 2nd ushering in a couple of weeks where we try to organize our own thoughts and impressions to make sense of the confusing changes in the world. It will be a couple of weeks before we can work collectively. Even communicating our ideas can be challenging; eventually clarity emerges through our interactions. Patience is necessary to get our feet on the ground. On the 6th Uranus turns Retrograde completing the pattern of all outer planets moving against the direction of the Sun. Even though major themes in society seem like wacky innovations or stale rehashes of well trod ground, a new vision of the possible emerges when we realize what hasn’t worked before. The Full MoonThe Full Moon Lunar Eclipse is on the 7th at 15 Pisces 23 at 2:10 PM EDT. Mercury rules Virgo and is with the Sun. The Moon is on the North Node in Pisces and Trine to Jupiter in Cancer, showing good fortune follows having confidence in our emotional impulses going forward. All eclipses are potent and because Jupiter is so closely Trine the Moon and the North Node of the Moon, we are encouraged to take bold steps into arenas where faith in our own ideals overrides logic and common sense. Saturn in Pisces is Conjunct Neptune in Aries; this is the ongoing saga of Faith (Neptune) vs. Fear (Saturn). Uranus is Trine Pluto and both Sextile Neptune; this triumvirate of deities points to large scale shifts as they bring higher intervention into everyday occurrence. Venus is Sextile Mars and both Quincunx Moon and Semi-sextile the Sun. This emphasizes the imperative need to work in concert; going it alone won’t cut it. With Mars (planet of desire) Squaring Jupiter (planet of confidence), we will be apt to force ourselves against the grain of realism. Some of the outcome will be very beneficial, but some of it will get us into deep trouble unless we correct our path in motion. Most planets at the time of the eclipse are in mutable signs which encourage us to adjust. This will be a very strong influence for the next six months. On the 16th Venus Sextile Mars helps us shape new methods for getting along with one another. The tenor of relationships improves. On the 18th Mercury enters Libra revealing old ideals in a new light. Our beliefs undergo modification as we share and implement them. Harmony comes through understanding other points of view. The New MoonThis New Moon on the 21st at 2:53 PM EDT is a Solar Eclipse landing on the 29th degree of Virgo. The New Moon is a moment of starting over, of planting, of having the cosmos at our back, encouraging us to try something new. Solar eclipses are extremely potent New Moons that put down markers in the zodiac which become hot spots for several years. In addition to this powerhouse explosion of energy, this occurs just 24 hours before the Sun crosses into Libra. Four times a year the Sun crosses into a cardinal sign, initiating a new season. Like a New Moon, when the Sun crosses the Equinox or Solstice point, our energy and attention is redirected. This Eclipse being on the last degree of Virgo and Conjunct the South Node pulls us toward the results of our past actions and encourages us to finish what we have started. In this chart Mars is on the last degree of Libra, Sextile Venus, and in Square to Pluto. This suggests a tug of conscience and the heart pulling us toward more social interaction and harmony, while at the same time we have an eye for the future and an underlying fear that we won’t complete our obligations. Mars is at the focal point of the finger of God aspect being Quincunx Uranus and the Saturn Neptune Conjunction. Neptune and Uranus show large collective forces forcing new expressions of our desires. With Saturn in Pisces augmenting the needs of the world at large, every action now carries immediate and permanent effect. The Sun enters Libra The Fall Equinox (when the Sun enters Libra) is on the 22nd at 2:20 PM EDT and outlines world events until the third week of December when we Sun enters Capricorn, this is the Winter Solstice. The Grand Trine in Air with Sun/Uranus/Pluto suggests tremendous desire for mental innovation. With the Sun Opposite the Saturn/Neptune Conjunction, we are forced to act and react to both the world situation, but also important transitions in our personal lives. Neptune represents faith in ourselves; Saturn Opposite the Sun suggests underlying self- doubt. Because 50% of the planets are in Air signs, we are apt to keep trying new ideas until something takes root. Mars in Scorpio Square Pluto in Aquarius indicates a potential for violence hanging in the air. Because Mars is the planet most emphasized and Mars rules energy, exactly where we put our force matters greatly. Mars is at the apex of a Finger of God aspect and Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are all so closely aspecting Mars, it can be easy for impulsive desires to run away with us. Venus in Virgo being Sextile Mars can soften the blow of runaway emotions. Venus is the only Earth planet in the chart. Listening to our gentler nature makes sense because it promises practical results. My Personal NoteSeveral months ago I had decided I was going to change how I construct the newsletter. Then less than a week ago my physical health collapsed and forced the changes. I’ll be experimenting over the next few months finding the best way of giving information that would help people. I will be posting some more videos on my YouTube channel if you’d like to follow along there: Bob Mulligan – YouTube In Graduate School I read a book on symbolism, it said dance is the symbol of creation. I remembered this when I saw this video. In Hinduism this is called the clash of Pran and Akash: Jason Colacino and Katie Boyle – Honky Tonk I’ve followed Steven Forrest and read his books for many years.
