November 2025By Bob Mulligan (a personal note is at the end of the newsletter)  November Highlights Mars (god of war) is quite active on the 4th.  He makes a Trine to Neptune, then leaves the sign of his rulership (Scorpio) and enters Sagittarius (sign of adventure), where he Opposes Uranus. This all happens the day before the Full Moon so Mars is doing some ground clearing. There is an emotional shift from following gut instincts to aligning our energy to our values.  We will act rather than react if we want to make progress and move beyond fighting shadows and into the realm of problem solving. Uranus Retrogrades back into Taurus on the 8th. Uranus was in Taurus from May 2018 til November 2018, then March 2019 til July 2025.  Uranus brings innovation.  He is in his fall in Taurus which means that he acts most uncharacteristically. In Taurus he tends to show flaws in our treatment of everything in the physical world. For instance- the last time Uranus was in Taurus we destroyed our farm land and had the Great Dust Bowl. This is a reminder to examine any shortcuts that we contemplate during this period which will last until the end of April 2026. Mercury turns Retrograde on the 9th on 6 degrees of Sagittarius.  For 9 days, Mercury retraces his steps in the sign of enthusiasm and expanse.  If we are fortunate, we will not have over- committed during the exuberance of the last period (October 29th – today).  If we have exaggerated our potentials during this eleven day period, we have a window to see our error in judgment and correct it now.  On the 11th Jupiter turns Retrograde. Jupiter (king of the gods) rules Sagittarius and Pisces where Mercury, Mars, Saturn, and Neptune are now residing; the upshot is that we may be forced by circumstances to operate out of necessity to act as a counterweight to other people’s poor judgments. Jupiter will be Retrograde for the rest of the year.   Mercury Retrogrades back into Scorpio on the 18th.   This ushers in a period of three weeks where it is possible to deal with root causes. Conflicting urges and diversified attention can put us in dangerous overreach. Pulling our energy together gives a winning hand at whatever game we play, but it does require some corrective movement brought about through simplification and focus. Saturn turns Direct on the 27th. This is one of those events that is scarcely noticed unless you are looking for it.  However, this doesn’t mean that it’s not important.  Saturn is the lord of external manifestation and he is transiting the sign of emotional ideals.  Inch by inch Saturn (the lord of karma) will start closing in on Neptune (the lord of universal ideals). This may be an important turning point in the long road as we create a new civilization; each of us participates in some grand personal drama.  Mercury turns direct on the 29th, right after the New Moon in Scorpio.  Emotions are strong and run deep. We all tend to see life circumstances in extremes. Impulsive actions can spell trouble.  Deliberation and cooling off are necessary to avoid self-created difficulties. Venus enters Sagittarius on the 30th; she points the way to potential adventure. The general mood is heavy, but Venus (goddess of love) in the sign of values can help us concentrate on the things that are worth celebrating.   The Full Moon  The Full Moon is on the 5th at 8:19 AM EST at 13 Scorpio/Taurus. The Moon is in her exaltation in Taurus. This is the only earth planet in the chart. This indicates that the world will seem tilted toward some traditional virtues like family and connections with people we share common beliefs and values with.  This is further emphasized by the majority of planets being in air and water, the two elements that link us with others. Mars (having just crossed into Sagittarius) Opposes Uranus and Trines Pluto.  He also Trines the Saturn/Neptune Conjunction.  Jupiter in his exaltation in Cancer rules most of the chart. He is a controlling and moderating influence. Again, traditional values channel the inherent need of civilization to innovate. Venus in Libra is on the midpoint of Jupiter/Pluto, showing much money changing hands quickly, but also the stress of conflicting drives for power.  We are at our best when we pay attention to what is coming, but don’t criticize ourselves for “missed opportunities”. The key is to learn.   The New Moon  The New Moon is on the 20th at 1:47 AM EST at 28 Scorpio 12.  Scorpio is a water sign; water is the internal emotion of empathy; it is how we connect with others through our feelings. Of the ten planetary bodies that rule signs of the zodiac, seven of them are in water: Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces. This emphasis on the common ground between us sets the tone for the next 28 days.  Scorpio is hot or cold but not lukewarm.  Mercury closely Conjuncts the New Moon, signaling that our mind is controlled by our gut impressions, our instincts.  Further, Sun, Moon, and Mercury are in a Grand Water Trine with Jupiter in Cancer and the Saturn/Neptune in Pisces.  This forms what Noel Tyl referred to as a circle of personal self-sufficiency.  However, Uranus Opposite the New Moon releases this energy, catapulting us into action.  When Uranus is in his fall (Taurus) he doesn’t release his inherent genius.   Historically we don’t see the higher side of Uranus at this time, but we can see chaos. Bottom line, if you can believe it, things are about to get even goofier. We do best to stay calm, observant, and move forward cautiously. The rulers of Scorpio are Mars in Sagittarius and Pluto in Aquarius. They are both positioned to propel us forward, but to what?  It is difficult to be detached with so much water, but it is necessary for our own higher nature to emerge.  The Sun enters Sagittarius  The Sun enters Sagittarius November 21st at 8:37 PM EST.  The Moon last crossed over Mars; Sun, Moon, and Mars are all in Sagittarius. The cluster of energy shifting to fire externalizes the force of the New Moon.  Fire is self driven enthusiasm that provides energy to accomplish.  The Mutual Reception between Jupiter in Cancer and the Moon in Sagittarius allows our emotional focus to be on our family as well as potential adventure. Life opportunities expand. Travel and exploration of things far removed from our ordinary lives will dot the landscape all month.  Regardless of our likes and dislikes, flexibility is implanted into all our actions.  With Mercury Sextile Pluto and Opposite Uranus, we have to be certain we are on the right track with our facts and general direction, and at the same time, be free from any necessity to have others agree with us, or even understand what we are doing.  Mercury rules thinking, communication, and movement. He is Retrograde and in aspect to Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune, all who are also Retrograde.  Our mental life is fixated on our past; but this a blessing. It’s time to learn. The data is old, but our methods can be innovative. Venus Trine the North Node indicates that the way forward can be easy when we are patient and pleasant.  My Personal Note  Call me at 239-261-2840 if you would like a personal appointment.  My e-mail is bobmulliga@aol.com.  Visit my website, www.theastrologycompany.com. The trip to Hawaii and West Virginia were the closest thing to a vacation that I have had in many years.  The retreat on the Meher Center was the first time I had stayed on the Center over night since this time last year.  I have completed many months of physical therapy and it seems to be coming to a close.  It has helped a lot.  The cardiologist feels that I can drive again; my primary doctor wants to wait for the results of my heart monitor to come back.  We will see what happens by next month.  A chapter of my book “The Heart of Astrology” was printed in the September issue of “The Mountain Astrologer”.  I also had an article in the September issue of the OPA magazine and in the September issue of APAI magazine.  Coming up I will give a talk as a fundraiser for The Alexandria iBase Project on December 8th at 8 PM EST.  “Tuning in to the Cosmos”.  This talk explores the hidden meaning of the boundaries between the individual self and the rest of the universe.  The specific techniques we examine in this presentation move us from the theoretical and philosophical, to the practical instructions for advancement in consciousness.  Also coming up, next April 28th 2026 at 2:00 PM EDT I will give a talk on Jupiter for the San Diego chapter of NCGR.  Other than these two events I’m just working on some videos that will explain some things I couldn’t fit into my book, but feel are important.  In my September newsletter, I asked if there were any topics you would like me to cover in a video.  Leela Bruner (soul sister) wrote back.  Hi Bob, I’d like you to do a video on Planetary Rulerships.  In your glossary if you look up debility, exaltation and fall all it does is refer to the rulership chart.  What does debility and the others mean? Is debility always in opposition to the rulership and is fall an opposition to exaltation.  What criteria is used for exaltation and why? Maybe I missed it when I read the book.  Anyhow, I think it would be interesting and helpful.   Anyone have other suggestions, just submit them.   So many of you let me know how much you enjoyed Ellen DeGeneres giving the commencement address, I thought I would include this monologue from her hosting the Oscars.  Ellen DeGeneres at the Oscars: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUmX6CiMoFk It was almost 30 years ago that Robyn ignited the stage with this song; it still has potency today.
