October 2025By Bob Mulligan (a personal note is at the end of the newsletter) Highlights for October Mercury enters Scorpio on the 6th and stays there until the 29th. As Mercury rules how we procure and disseminate information, there will be an undercurrent of intensity during this three week period. There is a special obligation during this period to withhold our assertions unless we have tested the water. Venus enters Libra on the 13th. She has a dominant function at this time because she is in her own sign and completes a Grand Trine with Uranus and Pluto. In addition, she Opposes Saturn and Neptune. In her harmony-seeking role, we are likely to take some bold steps in order to achieve our objectives. Regardless of which path we take, chances are very good that we will alter our course while in motion. Pluto turns Direct on the 13th intensifying our commitment to whatever direction we take. This period where the god of the underworld is in direct motion begins with overwhelming confidence. This leads to risk-taking and forceful steps that upends the dynamic of important relationships. Neptune Retrogrades back into Pisces on the 22nd where he will be for the rest of the year. We will experience a collective yet subtle shift from self-reliance to dependence on ideas and directions that we believe will benefit everyone. Mercury enters Sagittarius on the 29th and will be there until he Retrogrades back into Scorpio on November 18th. New information during this time period will expand our outlook on what is possible. The Full Moon The Full Moon is on the 6th at 11:48 PM EDT. In this chart Mercury is Square Pluto and Quincunx both Neptune and Uranus. Mercury learns and translates. It behooves us to release all the ideas and impressions of our old life so we can mentally prepare for a new life. Venus is Opposite Saturn on the MC and IC in Washington, D.C. This appears to indicate a measured period of discarding details of old projects and habits that hold us back. Help comes through Venus’s Sextile to Jupiter which encourages us to concentrate on basic circumstances of everyday life. Uranus Trines Pluto; both are Sextile Neptune/ Saturn which still control the show. We are blessed with the opportunity to take another step toward personal integration; we have so much help from environmental conditions that point to the worthlessness of most of the material and emotional objects we have invested in. This is a Full Moon that lives up to the promise to complete and release. The New Moon The New Moon on the 21st at 8:26 AM EDT at 28 Libra 22 is Square Jupiter shows conflict between a fair and balanced approach to life while making sure everyone is included as we move forward. With no earth planets in the chart and 50% of the planets in air, we can spend too much time speculating and planning. Personal convictions push us forward as the Mercury Conjunct Mars is in a Grand Trine with Jupiter and the Conjunction of the North Node with Saturn. The zeitgeist of the moment is to share our beliefs with everyone. If we listen to others we learn. This is a month devoted to problem solving and learning at a deeper level about what makes other people tick; and conversely, we learn more about ourselves. The Sun enters Scorpio The Sun enters Scorpio on the 22nd at 11:52 PM EDT. The Sun’s journey through Scorpio is emotionally very potent. We have a Grand Trine in water: Jupiter, Moon, Mars, Mercury, North Node, Saturn, and Neptune. We are very passionate about something. With the Sun at the apex of the Yod with Uranus and Neptune we tend to get involved with anything that strikes a match to our emotional fuse. With the Sun in Scorpio Square Pluto in Aquarius, everyone is confronted with the alternating impulses to hold onto the past (Scorpio) and discover a new path forward (Aquarius). With Mercury (mental activity) Conjunct Mars (desire) what we think about will have tremendous potency. When we move beyond the realm of the rational we automatically become part of the problem in society, or part of the solution. More important than what we believe is the temperament of our personal mental picture. Anger hurts, love helps. Jupiter is in his exaltation; Neptune is in his rulership, as is Mars. Because Jupiter (king of the gods) is the ultimate organizer and the arranger of the appropriate, we have the opportunity during this 30 day period to link our crusader impulse to what we truly believe is the higher truth. My Personal Note I mentioned in my last newsletter that my health had collapsed. On August 24th I was out walking and I collapsed and fell to the ground. My son came and brought me home. The next week I couldn’t walk very much. I was on a downward trajectory. I knew that my heart was not operating very well. On the 31st I was at the Baba center leaving Meher Baba’s house and my friend, Mary Weiss, had some titanium patches which she had ordered from a company in Hawaii. She offered me one of these patches and I placed it over my heart. 5 minutes later many of my bodily functions returned to normal. My health improved daily from this point. Right after I collapsed I did see my doctor, I got an appointment with a cardiologist and I am pursuing all standard medical channels. However, my health only improved because I was fortunate enough to stumble on some mechanisms outside the normal medical establishment. So, I’m writing this newsletter from Waikiki Beach in Hawaii. Yes I did visit the shop that sells these patches and other products. On September 24th I spent my 77th birthday in Hawaii with my daughter, Katie, and my friend, Mary Weiss. I did receive a number of emails, phone calls, and a special birthday card from Arlan Wise. She was the group leader for the OPA peer group that I attended over the last three weekends before leaving on my birthday adventure. I’m home for a few days then going to West Virginia with my daughter, Katie, to celebrate her college graduation. After returning from WV, I’ll be on a retreat at the Meher Spiritual Center in Myrtle Beach for an extended weekend. By the 23rd of October my life will return to relative normalcy.
