November Highlights

The total Lunar Eclipse on November 8th is the companion to the Solar Eclipse on October 25thTogether they highlight a deep cleaning that is occurring for the forces of creation and dissolution.  This will play out over the next few years, but this month will offer each of us an opportunity to take a personal inventory.  A conscious decision to let go of habits from our past is empowering, and lightens our load for the next leg of the journey.

Retrograde Mars Squares Retrograde Neptune on the 19th.  This aspect serves as a guiding light, showing us that we have everything that we need.  Mars in Gemini is the desire to communicate, but also to find new information.  Neptune in Pisces is the reminder that liberation is our birthright.  We just have to recognize the goodness that is all around us.  This Square is a chance to reevaluate our spiritual commitments.

Jupiter turns Direct on the 23rd, just moments after the New Moon.  This promises to kick start activities that may have languished over the last few months.  Direct Jupiter in Pisces initiates a 30-day period where we can breathe new life into projects that we wish to see completed.

The Full Moon

The Full Moon on November 8th is at 6:01 AM EST on the 16th degree of Scorpio/Taurus.  This is a total Lunar Eclipse.  With Uranus Conjunct the Moon and Mercury closely Conjunct the Sun, this promises a wild couple of months. Saturn forms a T-square with Sun and Moon.  Six planets are involved in the fixed pattern, so things change only with great effort.  Slowly, a new direction is forged.  An unexpected turn of events leaves us guessing as to our next move. Circumstances intervene and some decisions are made for us.  There are some hidden gems in our traditional values.  We just have to separate the useful from the things we have outgrown.

Sun into Sagittarius

The Sun enters Sagittarius on the 22nd at 3:22 AM EST.  The most telling feature of this Solar month is the Conjunction of Mercury and Venus is Sagittarius.  This promises an adventurous and visionary attitude toward life’s challenges.  And there are many.  The Moon in Scorpio indicates the gloom of the recent period is still with us.  What we need to learn from this is that every inequity does not have to be made right all at once.  Mars closing in on the Trine to Saturn shows that hard work can pay off.  But also, since they are both in air signs, conversation can help build teamwork.

New Moon

The New Moon is on the 23rd at 1 degree and 37 minutes of Sagittarius.  Jupiter is Stationary Direct and still within orb of the separating Trine to the Sun and Moon.  This indicates a valiant attempt to chart a new course, with hope and wonder as our guiding lights.  It is most important to keep believing that we can accomplish what is necessary. With seven planets in mutable signs, we will find our way through the trials of the moment, if we are flexible enough to switch strategies when what we try doesn’t work out.  Victory belongs to the brave.

The Weeks

From the 1st to the 6th we are either in a hurry to complete tasks already in motion, or frozen in indecision; a deer with his eyes in the headlights.  Much can be accomplished if we keep moving forward.  Panic is the enemy.  Somewhere along the way we meet some interesting people, if we are observant and have presence of mind.

From the 7th to the 13th if we take the time to reorganize, life goes smoothly.  If we attack the week’s projects ill prepared, we will be exhausted.  When we make room for other people’s opinions, we find common ground.

From the 14th to the 20th bursts of enthusiasm carry us forward.  The trick is to ride waves of excitement without getting locked into a corner of believing in our own infallibility.  Momentary escape into an imaginary world is wonderful, provided we know where the ground is.

From the 21st to the 27th having faith in one’s self and life supplies the energy to keep moving.  We can turn over a new left and start enjoying life more.  We have had a tendency to take life more seriously than it deserves.  It is time to lighten up and have fun.

From the 28th to the 30th preparation for the road ahead takes precedence.  There are a few loose ends floating in the wind.  We would like to relax, but there are a few pesky tasks that are there to be done.  The good news is that our daily routines are such that everything is handled with a just a little attention to the details.

The Days

1st – Tuesday – Our desires and our efforts don’t clearly match up.  Freedom doesn’t mean to rebel.  Conversation helps clarify the path forward.  Unconventional doesn’t mean better.  Discrimination is needed.

2nd – Wednesday – Pleasant conversation moves us closer to real harmony.  Past events create a pattern of inertia; our expectations can be dour. Our best course is to stay active and not worry about the little pieces of the puzzle that don’t seem to fit.  We don’t have to understand what is going on in order to make progress.

3rd – Thursday – Mercury Sesquiquadrate Neptune, Venus Sesquiquadrate Jupiter – We are pretty sure of our reasoning, but it doesn’t agree with our higher sensitivities.  We take the next step, then the next, and after a while our mind and emotions come into alignment.

4th – Friday – Mercury Sesquiquadrate Mars – People, like some ideas, are just with us for a flash.  But when we look closely, whether friendly or adversarial, these people and ideas play an important role in our lives.  This is one of the transitory moments.  When recognized we mature in consciousness.

5th – Saturday –  Venus Opposite Uranus, Venus Parallel Saturn —  Even though we have ample opportunity to reach out and share some treasured secrets, maintaining our own counsel and letting others think what they will, is the path of growth.  Integrity is an inner castle built one brick at a time.

6th – Sunday – Venus Contra-parallel Uranus, Sun Sesquiquadrate Jupiter – What we concentrate on grows rapidly.  If our heart is truly on our project at hand, then we are blessed. We take a giant step forward.  The environment is rumbling and ripe for a change.  Our lot is doubly blessed if we make room for others to manifest their vision, even when it diverges from our own.

7th – Monday – Venus Square Saturn, Mercury Sesquiquadrate Jupiter, Sun Parallel Saturn – Our commitments are in place, and our path of immediate activities is clearly laid out.  If we are vigilant, a great truth will be revealed.  There has been whispering of these insights in the last few months.  Our job is to recognize their return and capture them.

8th – Tuesday –  Mercury Parallel Saturn, the Full Moon Eclipse is at 6:03 AM EST on 16 degrees of Scorpio/Taurus,  Mercury Contra-parallel Uranus, Sun Conjunct Mercury, Sun Parallel Mercury, Mercury Opposite Uranus – Just when we have it all figured out, the universe throws us a curve ball.  The changes keep happening.  This is the beginning of a series of adjustments that will build on each other over the next few months. We help others if we remain calm and give latitude to other people and their strange quirks.

9th – Wednesday – Sun Opposite Uranus –  One damning feature of the moment occurs when we believe that we have already seen it, heard it, experienced it before.  Even when the events of the day seem to be disrupted by the all too familiar, we learn by exploring the uniqueness of what is happening to us.  It is easy to think that it is happening to everyone; or worse, to take offence and believe that we are personally being punished.  We need to relax and learn something.

10th – Thursday –  Mercury Square Saturn, Venus Trine Neptune –  Reasoning through current choices can be way too confusing.  Following the bliss of emotional impulses has its own liabilities.  The heart is singular in focus and worth following if our impulses are light and inclusive.

11th – Friday – Sun Square Saturn, Venus Quincunx Mars – The promise of some time to relax and enjoy life is waiting on the other side of a few simple routine tasks that need to be accomplished.  There is lots of conversation and what can look like meaningless banter.  However, if we keep our spirits light and keep looking up, this can be a really fun time.

12th – Saturday – Mercury Trine Neptune, Mercury Parallel Venus – To be creative and to allow the inspiration of the moment guide us creates an opportunity for Mother Nature to refresh us.  There have been mountains to climb in the recent past and more peaks to scale coming up.  But today, maybe it is just ok to lie in the hammock and watch the world go on by.

13th – Sunday – Venus Sextile Pluto, Mercury Quincunx Mars- There is an appropriate focus for our intense emotions.  We can share our passions with others. but most important is that we have a safe outlet for the pent up feelings.  We don’t have to read every book in the library in order to appreciate the magnitude of the institution.

14th – Monday – Mercury Sextile Pluto, Sun Trine Neptune –  The search for answers brings positive results.  The spirit of love opens the door to a deeper understanding.  We are not just answering questions; we are having the opportunity to understand the larger context in which the question first arose.

15th – Tuesday – Venus Trine Jupiter, Sun Quincunx Mars – Most activities are blessed today. What we put forward receives strong emotional support from people, the environment, and unfolding events.  We have the good fortune to complete tasks and negotiations favorably.  Also, through conversation and exploration we can see the next part of the journey which is starting to unfold.

16th – Wednesday – Venus enters Sagittarius, Mercury Trine Jupiter – The facts and our values agree.  We are headed in the right direction and as long as we hold onto things which have intrinsic value, we cross the finish line.

17th – Thursday –  Mercury enters Sagittarius –  Big ideas flood in from every direction.  Our job is to not overstep our foundations.  We can see a better world, but getting there is still some hard work away.

18th – Friday – Sun Sextile Pluto – A little extra time devoted to career, relationships, and long-range goals provides us with the type of feedback that encourages us to do more.  We are at a time of completion, a harvest cycle.  Well-earned rewards are just around the corner.

19th – Saturday –  Mars Square Neptune – Faith is strong but so is nervous energy.  To stay vital and in good health it is important to pace ourselves, and be willing to switch tracks when we find ourselves spinning our wheels.  This is supposed to be a time of enrichment and fulfillment.  The universe will do its part, now we must do ours.

20th – Sunday – We should never be too busy to stop and help another.  In the process of helping the less fortunate, we gain perspective and gratitude.  Also, in the process of helping others we break any tendency to be overly self-involved.

21st – Monday – Sun Trine Jupiter, Mercury Conjunct Venus– Optimism and great self-confidence propel us forward in whatever our adventure for the day may bring.  We are lucky, but it is the willingness to follow up on our hunches that is responsible for creating many of the openings.

22nd – Tuesday – Sun enters Sagittarius, Mercury Parallel Pluto – We  can only proceed in one direction at a time. We must choose a path and stay committed to it for some time.  Slowing down to meditate and just organize our thoughts is prudent.  It is a time for planting seeds of change.

23rd – Wednesday – The New Moon is on the 23rd at 1 degree and 37 minutes of Sagittarius. Jupiter turns Direct – This can be the moment when we recognize what type of growth is significant and what kind of expanse is only putting on weight. If we are true to ourselves, the world is our oyster.  But more important than the luck, we are sorting out, in a very specific form, what is worth wanting and what is worth having.

24th – Thursday –  Mercury Semi-square Pluto –  To hold onto the beauty of the day, we need to let go of the ugly thoughts of yesteryears.  We rise or fall based on our ability to give up what we don’t need.  This can be a fun process if we are lighthearted.

25th – Friday –  Venus Semi-square Pluto –  Acknowledging what we must do to grow is the first step.  Now comes the part where we must put our beliefs into motion.  Even though there are many in our lives that support our development, this is a step each must take on their own.

26th – Saturday – Progress comes by holding tight to basic routines and moving slow but steadily toward our goal.  For the most part, shortcuts don’t carry us in the right direction.  It is a time to obey the rules and stay on a conservative path.  We can get creative later on, now we must toe the line.

27th – Sunday – Mercury Quincunx Uranus –  Help comes to those who wait.  This is one of those moments where if we feel we must do it ourselves, we act.  On the other hand, if we are patient we can see that the cake must stay in the oven a while longer and there will be plenty of help at the right time.

28th – Monday – Mars Trine Saturn, Venus Parallel Pluto, Venus Quincunx Uranus – We get our wheels planted on solid ground and for the next few days we can make some measurable and quite pleasant progress.  The spirit of adventure can invite us, but we are happiest to limit our speculative journeys to an afterthought to our necessary task.

29th – Tuesday – Mercury Contra-parallel Mars, Mercury Opposite Mars, Mercury Sextile Saturn –  Mental conflict can spoil our rhythm.  When others challenge our decisions, this can be an opportunity to go deeper into the subject matter.  However, even though we don’t want to be in a hurry, we still need to complete our given tasks within a finite time frame.

30th – Wednesday – Idealism reaches a new apex.  It is wonderful to explore the realm of wonderment; at the same time it is good to acknowledge that just because someone speaks with the thrust of authority, they may not know what they are talking about.  Information and beliefs are interesting fields to mine for new insights.

My Personal Note

Sometimes it is through great trials that something new is born.  While attending a seminar at the Meher Baba Center in Myrtle Beach (October 21st , 22nd, and 23rd ) I contracted Covid.   Basically, I was completely out of commission and had to change my flight home until Sunday the 30th.  At last count, 45 of the 75 or so people that attended the seminar came down with Covid.  It is a continuing miracle that this newsletter happened at all. I was really weak for the first five days.  Somehow the newsletter came together.  I didn’t think I was dying, but I did have the thought of all the people that I hadn’t had an opportunity to say a last good-bye.

My daughter, Juliana, flew down from NYC.  Three of my children – Hannah, Sylvan, and Bailey live in Myrtle Beach.  So I had a number of meals and good visits with four of my kids before Covid hit.   Each made a contribution to my recovery.  Bailey took several days off work to take care of me as I quarantined at the Baba Center. Oh, the seminar was absolutely wonderful, and just being on the Baba Center was a spiritual recharge.  Some deeply engrained personal habits underwent profound transformation, some were just illuminated.  On the other side, I feel liberated.

As has been pointed out, my own chart is going through very turbulent waters.  Of course, it has been scary, a bit painful, and challenging to the max, but as God is my witness, I’m happy and exceedingly grateful.  So many of you sent text messages and email, and I wasn’t able to respond.  Even now, I’m not communicating directly with close friends and family.  Please understand.

Several friends sent me this article so I thought I would send it along to you:

My talk at the Summit was broadcast on September 28th, right as the hurricane was coming through.  Deborah Smith recorded it and sent it to me and now it has been posted on YouTube.  It you didn’t see it, here is the link:  https://youtu.be/1ZmiLbPzvPI

A couple of years ago, I sent out this song with my newsletter. When I was very sick, having difficulty breathing, I heard this song playing in my head and decided I’d send it out again:The Alternate Routes – Nothing More Lyrics (NCIS – Homesick) – YouTube

“From the spiritual point of view, the only important thing is to realize Divine Life and to help others realize it by manifesting it in everyday happenings. To penetrate into the essence of all being and significance and to release the fragrance of that inner attainment for the guidance and benefit of others–by expressing, in the world of forms, truth, love, purity and beauty–this is the sole game that has intrinsic and absolute worth.  All other happenings, incidents, and attainments in themselves can have no lasting importance.”                                                                                                                                                               Meher Baba
