April Highlights

After a rambunctious March, we have April to settle back into a predictable routine. However, we aren’t going back to the halcyon days of yore.  We have changed and the world has changed. A meaningful return to tradition is impossible.  It isn’t just you; everyone is feeling uneasy with the massive shift in culture.  Many of us will lose heart; thinking that people are stupid, misled, and misinformed. With Neptune (lord of culture) just having entered Aries, the gloves come off and built up hostilities will bubble to the surface and find expression. The global economy is torn and will need to be rebuilt and reshaped; inflation will skyrocket. Have faith, this is all for a purpose and the outcome will be spectacular.

Saturn (finite) being Sextile Uranus (infinite) on the 4th sets the tone for the month.  Traditional boundaries matter less than our intuition and expectations for the coming events.  On the same day, Mars (desire) is Sextile Uranus and Trine Saturn.  Our personal energy mingles with the will of the cosmos, and what first appears as a transient attitude becomes an imprinted motive behind private and public events.  This is an important directive all month.

Mercury turns Direct on the 7th putting an end to the pensive reevaluation that has been dogging our actions for the last three weeks.

Venus turns Direct on the 12th and will favor everything having to do with artistic expression for the rest of the month.  Diplomacy through back channels becomes a useful conduit; negotiations bring a modicum of peaceful transition in otherwise murky waters.

On the 16th Mercury enters Aries then Conjuncts Neptune. Plans emerge in a high-wire act of exploration.  Problem solving is impulsive and immediate.  This creates difficulties for us further down the road, but the instant gratification seems to be enough for some.

Every project underway has a bit of success as Jupiter is Sesquiquadrate Pluto on the 17th just hours before Mars enters Leo.  This is a great time for envisioning long range plans. We can see how all our past actions build the foundation for what we are going to be involved with next.  A new chapter is opening.

We may find that other people’s resistance to our path causes persistent stress as Mars is Opposite Pluto on the 26thFinding common ground requires establishing limits to our own drive to expand.  When we keep our focus on higher values that make life worth living, the way forward becomes obvious.

Venus enters Aries on the 30thOur “me first” attitude can actually be beneficial, if we are generous with our time and attention. Not everyone comes along with our picture of what to do, but if we are right, we can help others after securing our own mission.

The Full Moon

The Full Moon is at 23 degrees Aries/Libra on the 12th at 8:23 PM EDT.  Mars in Cancer is at the base of a T-square with the Full Moon.  Because these placements are in cardinal signs, the remedy for balance is physical motion.  We will all find it necessary to move around a bit in order to integrate the release of energy.  Venus, Saturn, North Node, Mercury, and Neptune are all Conjunct; they Trine Mars and Sextile Uranus.  Behind the wall of nervousness there is a calm integration that can rapidly improve our relationships. By grabbing the opportunities that suddenly appear we can act in accordance with our higher inspiration to take an important step forward.

The Sun enters Taurus

Sun enters Taurus at 3:57 PM EDT on the 19th.   Venus (ruler of Taurus) is in Pisces with the North Node and Saturn. This suggests that the whole month finds us constrained by what must be accomplished.  This may not sound like fun, but Mercury separating from the Conjunction to Neptune and the Trine to Mars lifts our spiritsOur recent past has been one with lots of nervous interludes and time away from our jobs.  Now is the time to buckle down and take care of given responsibilities. With the Moon in Capricorn, hard work may be in the mix, but accepting our tasks and completing them is freeing.  The Sun is at the base of a T-Square with Mars Opposite Pluto; changing our emotional attitude to a more positive vision adds illumination to our lot in life.  Avoiding frustration and fisticuffs comes when we don’t take the bait.  All month there will be things we don’t care for.  Karmically, the world is at the crossroads and collectively we are reaping what was sown.

The New Moon

The New Moon is on the 27th at 3:31 PM EDT on 7 degrees 47 minutes of Taurus.  North Node, Saturn and Venus are Conjunct at the end of Pisces.  Pisces’ ruler is Neptune, which now resides in Aries and Conjuncts the group. The idealism of the mystical is pulled into the pioneering spirit of the sign of Mars.

With five planets in fixed signs, and the Sun and Moon at the base of a T-Square, we are stuck until we personally change something in our attitude. The chart is shaped like a bucket with Pluto as the handle.  In Washington, D.C., Pluto is the only planet below the horizon; he is invisible and because he is all or nothing, we are moved deeply or not at all.  The bifurcation of the general population has reached a fever pitch.  Suffering ends when we decide to be our better selves.

The Weeks

From the 1st to the 6th putting our cares behind us, we are off on a new adventure.  Any new focus is on the backs of recently completed endeavors.  Love of family, nature, and the quiet joys of living somehow seem to be enough to keep the home fires burning; the memory of days gone by reveal instructions for the ongoing journey.

From the 7th to the 13th inspiration and luck have us making a slight change of direction.  Without this change, we would set our mission back quite a bit. Swimming the length of the pool while wearing galoshes may indeed be cumbersome, and commonsense would dictate that we should take time to be better prepared.  However, the task in front of us is time sensitive and it is a “come as you are war”.  We must play the cards that we are dealt.

From the 14th to the 20th it’s quite difficult to make progress when we want two opposing things. Freedom and security get in each other’s way.  In order to achieve our goals now we have to be single-minded and only want one thing.  Extra baggage not only costs us more money at the check-in desk, it slows us down unnecessarily. Experienced travelers have a small suitcase and a big wallet.

From the 21st to the 27th while we are tending our own garden, larger forces are in play.  Unexpected frost was in the weather forecast, did we turn a deaf ear to this information?  Wishful thinking and statistical study doesn’t change the outcome.  There is a balancing act; pride and stubbornness can keep us glued to outdated habits; obsequiousness can have us surrendering our values.  The only hope out is up.

From the 28th to the 30th the big picture favors sacrifice to further what is in our own best interest in the long run.  Luck finds us when we ditch the sentimental window-dressing, and aim for what is tangible and real.  “What-about-ism” has no place in the necessary progress of the moment.

The Days

1st – Tuesday – We are strong, determined but disorganized.  Picking up the threads of our past actions provides insight into our wished-for goals.  If we are open to leaning some new tricks, we change.  Modifications to our current direction will allow us to set a new path very soon.   We’re still gathering information.

2nd – Wednesday – Firm and unwavering belief in ourselves clears the path going forward.  Nervous energy, correctly focused, carries us across the finish line.  Ok, this footrace is only one step in a longer journey, but we are checking out some new gizmos; the feedback is phenomenal.

3rd – Thursday – Too much of a good thing brings indigestion.  It is easy to blame others, circumstances, or even the weather, but in the final analysis we just got in our own way.  Taking responsibility for our inner conflicts allows resolution.  The pace of life dictates our direction; there is no time to compromise, evaluate, or rest.

4th – Friday – Saturn Sextile Uranus, Mars Sextile Uranus, Mars Trine Saturn – With one foot in eternity and one foot on dry land, we either synthesize or suffer. Commonsense and nostalgia help us navigate the choppy waters all around us.  In the midst of great change in the universe it is totally appropriate to stoke the home fires.  Our responsibilities are not grandiose, but after all, they are still there, and they are ours.

5th – Saturday – Every relationship can express a sweetness if you allow it to percolate up naturally.  It’s time to be definite and loving.  When we are genuinely kind, others respond.  Even when our energy changes from passive to active, we can always extend a helping hand and remain committed to a higher truth. Details matter less than intent.

6th – Sunday –  Mercury Parallel Neptune, Sun Sextile Jupiter, Venus Trine Mars, Venus Contra-parallel Saturn – Rejoining a group, calling an old flame, or simply taking responsibility for uncomfortable past actions are all on the table today.  Our judgment is put to the test; we either embrace the most important option, or flounder trying to do too many things.  Love, action, and commitment move hand in glove.

7th – Monday – Venus Conjunct Saturn, Mercury turns Direct –   Half-way measures are better than not making any effort at all.  We have a propensity to test the water without moving forward.  There is a lingering doubt as to whether or not we have the necessary steam to climb the next hill.  Life seems to be moving at a faster clip than we are.  Catching up requires faith and effort.

8th – Tuesday – Venus Sextile Uranus – Careful cataloguing the information we already have may be more beneficial than making motions to gather more.  We are attracted to people and circumstances that have been in our orbit for awhile.  We are seeing everyone with new eyes because we have gone through a metamorphosis in consciousness.

9th – Wednesday – Nervous energy slows the process of integration.  Too many choices clog our thought process. Reaching for a new horizon is admirable, but lest we forget, all we really need is already with us. It’s a juggling act to keep our options open; we need to commit to the path we are on, yet take note of the one we did not follow.

10th – Thursday – We sign off on, and accept, activities behind the scenes; some necessary procedures aren’t particularly logical or aesthetic. We deal with basic and necessary operations.  We’re embracing old issues that present themselves in new clothing. We are welcoming a shift in paradigm.

11th – Friday –  It’s easy to become obsessed with how we appear to others.  Even though people are our own most personal mirrors, associates, loves, and friends will not all reflect the same image. If we don’t like what we see coming back to us, it’s time for a reality check.  Are we sure that we like what we are presenting to the world?

12th – Saturday – The Full Moon is on 23 degrees Aries/Libra at 8:23 PM EDT, Venus turns Direct – The die has already been cast. We can wait as events unfold without worry.  The nagging sense that if we don’t choose, the world will pass us by is misplaced.  If something doesn’t feel right, it isn’t.  Doing nothing is better than going in the wrong direction.  Inaction is a good option when we lack clarity.

13th – Sunday – Time spent with those we love is more important than worldly accomplishment.  Even when we are overly stimulated and feel that we should do something.  Relaxing is the best medicine.  It is easy to be distracted by the outer world; rewards lie in inner space and with those we share intimacy.

14th – Monday – Sun Semi-sextile Venus, Mercury Contra-parallel Venus, Mars Contra-parallel Pluto – We have the germ of an idea that hasn’t taken root yet. However, inner conflict can be the beginning of self-doubt which in turn can help us examine our premises. Overhauling our whole curriculum isn’t necessary, matter of fact, it would be overkill. Still, coming to terms with what is can be comforting and progressive.

15th – Tuesday –  Sun Semi-sextile Uranus, Mars Parallel Jupiter, Sun Semi-sextile Saturn –  A bigger picture of life comes into focus, and we are able to see more clearly what our next step should be.  Blending the necessary with the ideal carries us to the precipice.  Our actions are not as important as our attitude.  In order to be attuned to our true life path, we must harmonize with the divine plan.

16th – Wednesday –  Mercury enters Aries – Impulsiveness can put us in jeopardy.  Trying to bake a cake with half a recipe can be dangerous.  Less so if we acknowledge that we don’t have all the guidance that we need.  Even though we must act, the results are less troublesome if we are humble in our assessments.  When our emotional balance is truly comfortable, the changes that we must make are obvious.

17th – Thursday –  Mercury Conjunct Neptune, Jupiter Sesquiquadrate Pluto –  When we are aiming at a higher purpose for our lives, we forget ourselves and surrender to the greater needs of the inevitable.  We may not possess the intelligence to unravel the puzzle in front of us, but we are on the right track when we recognize that there is a puzzle, and we need more information.

18th – Friday –  Mars enters Leo, Jupiter Contra-parallel Pluto, Mercury Contra-parallel Venus  – An extra shot of self-confidence is the energy that gets us in motion. Luck comes as we act. Sitting still may seem like a good strategy, but movement helps bring about the emotional shift that is necessary over the next month.  Overcoming fear and confusion frees us to act definitively and in measured steps. Concerted effort brings progress and lifts our spirits.

19th – Saturday – Sun enters Taurus, Mars Trine Neptune –  Seeing our goal, we are impelled to move toward it like a steamroller, steady and determined.  Now, do we hold on to what we have, or risk it to get more? Boundaries are there, but can we identify those that represent commonsense, and those that are a byproduct of fear and selfishness? We are at the crossroads.

20th – Sunday –  Mercury Parallel Neptune, Sun Semi-sextile Neptune, Venus Sextile Uranus, Mercury Sextile Pluto, Sun Square Mars –  It’s uncommon for our values to genuinely shift.  Frustration eventually leads to analysis.  This in turn requires us to get honest with ourselves.  Wanting two things simultaneously generates lots of energy, but no useful results beyond information.  Learning to channel our energy takes time, but now is a step forward.

21st – Monday – Letting everyone else express their uniqueness is a natural extension of individualization.  Translating theory into practice allows us to measure our own cohesiveness. Character is there from birth, but self-study allows us to drill down to something more basic.  Setting our sights too low can have us beings successful, but not fulfilled.

22nd – Tuesday –  The future wins out in the war between the passing memories and the unfolding road ahead. On the other hand, our history has a role to play in determining the choices we make now.  Projecting the possible demonstrates the mind’s job in creating a better life and a better world.

23rd – Wednesday –  Sun Square Pluto –  It’s easy to get stuck in a rut when we are locked into a pattern without variations.  Circumstances don’t change for the better until we relinquish our kung fu grip on our illusions.  Our helpers are waiting in the wing, are stronger than before, and are hoping we ask for assistance.

24th – Thursday –  Venus Conjunct Saturn –  The potency of love is not measured in strength but in purity. Learning to love our mission is a task for several lifetimes. Right now we can commit to sacrificing a few moments of our time, money, and energy to help others.  We free ourselves from the endless round of repetitive failures by surrendering to our highest vision of truth.

25th – Friday –  Mercury Contra-parallel Neptune, Mercury Parallel Venus –  A quiet inner time brings peace.  Music, art, and single-minded focus are the keys to being in harmony with the ways of the world.  Yes, there is chaos afoot, but serenity is also there.

26th – Saturday –  Mars Opposite Pluto –  The stiff headwind stops us and it’s time to evaluate.  Do we push forward? Stand still? Or retreat?  Like a winter storm, we must take note and adjust to the environment.  It is easy to see that other people’s issues have no apparent connection to our own actions.  We have to decide what we should do, do it, and look and see what the current circumstances reveal about our own emotional state.

27th – Sunday –  Mercury Semi-square Uranus, the New Moon is at 3:31 PM EDT on the 7th degree of Taurus –  Something new is germinating and it will gather strength and grow without needing much encouragement.  An alteration of plans ignites unimagined possibilities. Even though our direction and instructions seem natural and normal, our project produces an unexpected but useful mutation.

28th – Monday – Consistency of effort is the major theme that produces the bread of life.  Rituals are planned and foreordained and very little interrupts the continuity of our actions. We are blessed with luck from the cosmos by simply clinging to the procedures from last week.  Deviation can be a detour that will require us to go back to the starting line. We find happiness by embracing our lot.

29th – Tuesday –  Mercury Contra-parallel Saturn –  Completing what we started is the path to abundance.  We can see over the next hill and there is joy around the bend.  Impatience is natural; our thoughts are off on a new adventure.  But tasks closer to home are staring us in the face.  Duty calls and a set of familiar routines are guardrails that keep us productive so we have some material benefit for our daily toiling.

30th – Wednesday – Venus enters Aries – If we break out of the pattern of life surrounding us, no one will be offended. They may not even notice.  The desire to be first can help us bring life to the party. The garden needs watering and lots of people will benefit in the long run if we keep doing our job.

My Personal Note

Issachar Bey interviewed me for his podcast “Horoscope Detective” on March 19th . If you would like to hear it – here is the link: https://youtu.be/rrV1ro6jfDM

I have sent books to Ireland and India. They have arrived without incident.  However, it is much less expensive to those in foreign countries to order the books directly from Amazon. They have websites and mailing facilities in just about every country.

The review of,“The Heart of Astrology” by Arlan Wise has captured the essence of my book and I want to share it with you: The Astrology Company : Heart of Astrology Book Review

On April 6th I’m giving an introductory talk on “The Heart of Astrology” for The Circle of Friends here in Myrtle Beach.  This will be a brief synopsis of the entire contents of the book.

It’s been two years since my accident on March 29th 2023.  I was in the hospital for two days and had a slow recovery at home.  My health has gradually improved since then and, by the grace of God, I managed to get the book out.   “The hand writing is on the wall” if I’m going to be in the body for any length of time, I’ll be given a new mission.

When I was learning guitar and singing folk songs, Mark Spoelstra was one of my heroes.  I found a live version of one of his songs online : Just a Hand to Hold (Live)

A few years back I posted this song in my newsletter and it popped into my mind today because it is uplifting and holds something we should all remember:  Tim McGraw – Humble And Kind (Official Music Video)

“Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little.”  – Edmund Burke

“I don’t want to be God – I don’t like the hours” – Rabbi Dovid Orlofsky
